Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the most common questions about Cognirivus.
General Questions
What is the difference between a Source and a Post?
- A Source represents a publication, feed, or channel that publishes content (e.g., Svelte Blog, Hacker News RSS, dbt website). You follow sources to populate your personal feed.
- A Post is created by a user. It can contain original text, an uploaded image, or it can point to a specific Source Item to start a discussion thread about it.
How do I customize my feed?
Go to Sources and follow the sites and RSS feeds you want to read. The For You tab on the main feed page will then contain exclusively items ingested from those sources. You can also follow curated Collections to see items saved by other users.
Can I follow private RSS feeds?
Currently, Cognirivus only supports public RSS/Atom feeds. We plan to support authenticated or private feed endpoints in a future update.
Curation & Communities
What is a Curation Note?
When you add an item to a Collection, you can add a short note (using Markdown) explaining why it is included, what you learned, or why it's worth reading. This adds context for anyone who follows your collection.
Who can post in a Community?
Any accepted member of a community can post to its shared feed and join the real-time chat. Admins have additional rights to pin posts, edit details, and manage membership requests.
Common Questions
How often are sources checked for updates?
Sources are checked for updates automatically throughout the day. If you want to pull new items immediately, you can trigger a manual sync for any source you follow directly from your Sources dashboard.
