Communities

Communities are shared workspaces that bring users together around a specific topic, discipline, or project.

Community Elements

Every community in Cognirivus includes:

  1. Shared Feed: A stream of posts, source items, and articles shared specifically to this community by its members.
  2. Dedicated Chat: A real-time room for synchronous discussion. It includes thread replies, reactions, and online presence indicators.
  3. Shared Collections: Curation folders owned by the community.
  4. Member List: Shows members, their roles, and who is online.

Membership & Roles

Communities have three user roles:

  • Owner: Has full control over the community settings, can delete the community, manage billing (if applicable), and appoint admins.
  • Admin: Can approve/reject member requests, manage collections, moderate posts and chat messages, and edit community details.
  • Member: Can read the feed, post content, join chat, react to messages, and participate in discussions.

Community Visibility

When creating a community, you can choose its visibility:

  • Public: Anyone can find the community, see its feed and chat history, and request to join or join instantly.
  • Private: Hidden from directories. Membership is invitation-only, and content is visible only to accepted members.
