Posts & Comments

Discussions in Cognirivus turn raw reading material into active knowledge sharing. You can share your own writing, highlight external articles, or discuss existing source items.

Post Types

When you create a post via the Submit page, you can choose from three formats:

  1. Text: Write original articles or notes in Markdown.
  2. Link: Share a URL from around the web. If the URL corresponds to an existing followed source, it will link automatically.
  3. Media: Upload images or rich media, which will render directly in the feed.

Sharing Ingested Items

One of the unique features of Cognirivus is the ability to share a Source Item (which was ingested automatically) as a Post.

  • This creates a discussion thread for that specific item.
  • It retains a clean metadata link back to the parent source.
  • It alerts other users who follow that source that a discussion is happening.

Threaded Comments

Comments use a nested, hierarchical structure, allowing multiple conversations to develop under a single post without getting cluttered:

  • Collapse Threads: Click on the vertical line next to a comment to collapse it and all its children.
  • Markdown Support: You can use standard Markdown inside comments to format text, add lists, or insert code blocks.

Voting & Scoring

Every post and comment can be upvoted or downvoted by members. The Score is calculated as:

$$\text{Score} = \text{Likes} - \text{Dislikes}$$

High-scoring posts rise to the top of the Top feed. High-scoring comments are sorted first in discussion threads.
